We have a number of BI projects across our organisation and have finally decided to setup a centralised BI team. However the team can only have 2-3 full time members. What roles/skill would those of you working in centralised BI teams think are the most important to have on such a small team?

I also agree.  It is very important to make sure that both business and IT needs are accounted for.  Therefore, a data steward should be well connected to the needs of the business as well as have a strong understanding of the importance of the data entities within the organization.  On the technology side, someone needs to manage the solution, as well as keep it updated.  Depending upon the solution chosen, someone with data modelling skills is important to develop data marts or to link various data together to enable consumers to benefit from the data.
